Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.1 Corinthians 15:58 (NKJV)

Never give in! The testing of your faith is more precious than gold…Now is the time to fight the good fight of faith.

Never give in! You are not alone in your trials and temptations…He is with you and will make a way of escape.

Never give in! Someone is praying…Jesus is before the Mercy Seat making intercession on your behalf.

Never give in! Heaven’s resources are yours…He will make all grace abound toward you.

Never give in! You can live beyond yourself…God’s strength is made perfect in weakness.

Never give in! The power of God is almighty…Greater is He that is within you than he that is in the world.

Never give in! The hard times will not last forever…Nothing can compare to what God has prepared for you.

“He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves”. Colossians 1:13 (CSB)

Changing from turmoil to peace, from anxiety to trust, from worry to assurance, from striving to rest, comes by changing kingdoms. God moves you from a kingdom of darkness to a kingdom of light…from a kingdom of selfishness to a kingdom of love…from a kingdom of deception to a kingdom of truth.
It is a kingdom where the soul finds mercy and the heart finds grace. In His kingdom you are led, not driven; guided, not pushed; healed, not tormented; fulfilled, not frustrated; freed, not bound; edified, not degraded; encouraged, not provoked; released, not hindered

We all need sanctified imaginations. It’s easy for us to fret and let our imaginations run wild. In reality, most things don’t happen the way we imagined them. The Bible doesn’t tell us to live by our imaginations. Our imaginations can be a fast track to worry. Worry says, “What happens to me seems out of my control.” Faith says, “My life is in God’s hands, and He is in control.”

Jesus, our Good Shepherd, will lead our minds to still waters and quiet resting places.

If our imagination runs free, it will soon run wild. Without being under the control of the Holy Spirit, our imagination can easily mislead us. Unchecked imagination can quickly take us down the road of anxiety and expose us to a wide variety of fears. We need to yield control of our imagination to the Holy Spirit. He will keep our imagination feeding in the safe pastures depicted in Psalm 23. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, will lead our minds to still waters and quiet resting places.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want..”  Psalm 23:1

“But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.” 1 Corinthians 15:10 (NLT)

As God’s people, one of the privileges we have is to serve Him and make Him known in our generation. Our labor is a labor of love and here are a few “little words” that can help bring understanding to the serving we do…

What we do is for the Lord…this helps us understand our mission. All we do, we do in obedience to His will and calling upon our lives, and not because of our ambition or personal agenda.

What we do is unto the Lord… this helps us understand our motivation. All we do is to please Him and bring Him glory, instead of seeking to please others.

What we do is with the Lord… this helps us understand our assignment. All we do is as co-laborers with the Lord, and not as independent servants.

What we do is because of the Lord… this helps us understand our stewardship. All we do is in His vineyard. It is His work and His ministry, not our ministry or our work.

What we do is in the Lord… this helps us understand our position. We serve from a place of rest and grace, and not from a place of striving or placing confidence in the flesh.

What we do is by the Lord… this helps us understand our source. All we have comes from Him, and without Him we would be empty vessels with nothing to give.

What we do is through the Lord… this helps us understand our effectiveness. We serve with the strength and the power which He supplies, understanding that it is not by human might or power, but by the Lord’s Spirit, that He does His work.

Knowing His Best…

But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured out his special favor on me—and not without results. For I have worked harder than any of the other apostles; yet it was not I but God who was working through me by his grace.1 Corinthians 15:10 NLT

Walking in Rest!
God wants you to rest not “from” the things He has for you but “in” the things He has for you. His rest reigns in the innermost part of your being. It is deeper than temperament, personality or emotions…it is not affected by job description, education or environment…it flows independent of possessions, comforts or conveniences.  Rest comes from grace…from the presence of the Lord…from the comfort of the Holy Spirit…from the yoke of Jesus Christ.

Rest Comes from grace…
from the presence of the Lord…
from the comfort of the Holy Spirit…
From the yoke of Jesus Christ.

A wonder of a Counselor, a divine Hero, a Father for all time, a peaceful Prince! Great is His authority, Endless is His peace. Isaiah 9:6-7 (Moffatt Translation)

Jesus is the Champion of all champions…no one comes close! All His titles are eternal…He has always held them, and no one in heaven or on earth has ever taken them away…no one ever will. His throne, His greatness, His glory, His dominion, His authority, and His kingdom are settled forever. Leave all with Him, place all before Him, trust all to Him.

A wonder of a Counselor: place yourself at His feet, hear His words, follow His wisdom, go with His plan, yield to His strategy. Do not set any limits upon what He can say to you.

A divine Hero: What a King! Warrior. Victor. Conqueror. Captain. Lord. Master. Without flaw or weakness. Clothed with glory. Crowned with majesty. Do not set any limits upon what He can do for you.

A Father for all time: He is the best. Kindest. Truest. He is full of compassion. Grace. Mercy. Loving kindness. Draw close to Him. Learn of Him. Walk with Him. He is always the same. Forever faithful. Do not set any limits upon what He can be to you.

A peaceful Prince: He is Peace. Perfect peace. He is the peace giver and He is the One who keeps you in perfect peace. He can use you as His peace maker in a restless and troubled world. Do not set any limits upon what He can do through you.

For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13 AMP

Spiritual Rest Looks to God for guidance…
Hears from God for approval…
leans on God for Sufficiency…
depends on God for results.

Walking in Rest!
Spiritual rest is the absence of self-generated action. Spiritual rest lets God’s will direct your motives and His power direct your actions. Spiritual rest frees you from the burden of pleasing others to doing all to please Him. Spiritual rest moves you from perplexity to divine purpose…from over-loading to the Spirit’s prompting…from frustration to every good and perfect work. Spiritual rest looks to God for guidance…hears from God for approval…waits on God for timing…leans on God for sufficiency…depends on God for results.

As God’s child, you reflect your Father’s image as His light shines through your eyes, as His words are on your lips, as His peace is upon your countenance, as His grace is in your responses, as His joy is in your obedience, as His compassion is in your actions, as His righteousness is in your choices, as His hope is in your outlook, as His blessing is in your touch, and as His love is in your heart.

“And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP)

“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.”  Psalm 34:3 (KJV)

Self-righteousness, self-justification and self-sufficiency do not magnify the Lord’s sacrifice, redemption, and atonement for us on the cross.

It is only through brokenness, humility, and repentance that we can fully magnify who the Lord is and what He has done in our lives. For it is out of our poverty that we magnify His riches; it is out of our smallness that we magnify His greatness; it is out of our frailty that we magnify His power; it is out of our need that we magnify His fullness; it is out of our flaws that we magnify His perfection; it is out of our deficiency that we magnify His abundance; it is out of our unworthiness that we magnify His mercies; it is out of our imperfection that we magnify His beauty; it is out of our weakness that we magnify His strength; it is out of our insufficiency that we magnify His grace.

God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NKJV)

In Your unfailing love You will lead the people You have redeemed. In Your strength You will guide them to Your holy dwelling.”  Exodus 15:13 (NIV)

I believe my life is in God’s hands and keeping.

I believe He has a plan and purpose for my life and that He is leading me in a path that will fulfill that plan and purpose. I believe it is a good plan, a right plan, and the best plan. I believe there is not a better, higher, or wiser way for me to live or way for me to follow. I believe God knows exactly what He is doing and that He will bring things into my life at the exact time they are needed. I believe He wants me to follow Him with praise on my lips for who He is, with thanks in my heart for what He does, and with obedience in my steps for what He asks me to do.

As we follow the Lord in daily obedience our walk is to be in the Spirit. To walk in the Spirit means that we have moved away from living a life within ourselves, to a life that Catherine Marshall describes as “beyond ourselves.”

God calls us beyond the limits within our own strength, to the limitless power of His Spirit;

  • beyond the limits within our own understanding, to the matchless wisdom of His ways;
  • beyond the limits within our own means, to the boundless supply of Christ’s riches;
  • beyond the limits within our own love, to the endless depths of the Father’s heart;
  • beyond the limits within our own best efforts, to the countless blessings that flow from the river of His favor;
  • beyond the limits within our own assistance, to the ceaseless help that comes from the One who created the heavens and the earth.

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”  Ephesians 3:16-20 (NLT)

How to Pray in Faith to be Filled with the Holy Spirit

We are filled with the Holy Spirit by faith alone. However, true prayer is one way of expressing your faith. The following is a suggested prayer:

“Dear Father, I need You. I acknowledge that I have been directing my own life and that, as a result, I have sinned against You. I thank You that You have forgiven my sins through Christ’s death on the cross for me. I now invite Christ to again take His place on the throne of my life. Fill me with the Holy Spirit as You commanded me to be filled, and as You promised in Your Word that You would do if I asked in faith. I now thank You for directing my life and for filling me with the Holy Spirit.”

Does this prayer express the desire of your heart? If so, bow in prayer and trust God to fill you with the Holy Spirit right now.

If you prayed this prayer we would love to hear from you . If you would like to know God deeper we can connect you with an email mentor and/or send you some great links.

We can speak—

With the eyes of understanding;
With the ears of alertness;
With the smile of delight;
With the tone of kindness;
With the spirit of compassion;
With the hands of mercy;
With the embrace of acceptance;
With the handshake of friendship;
With the look of interest;
With the tears of compassion;
With the nod of affirmation;
With the touch of tenderness;
With the heart of love;
With a face that radiates His light.

“Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord.” Psalm 4:6 (AMP)

“Let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven.Matthew 5:16 (HW)

“Your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.” Isaiah 54: 5 (NKJV)

God is a Redeemer;
He bought us with a great price,
He rescues and breaks the chains of bondage,
He finds us and brings us home.

God is a Restorer;
He returns what was destroyed and
replaces what was stolen.
He removes the stain of sin,
and brings beauty out of the ruins of our lives.

God is a Re newer;
He rekindles the flame
which flickers in the heart grown cold.
He takes away the old things
and makes all things new.

God is a Reviver;
He brings back to life
the things that were dead. He strengthens
the weak, and makes the broken whole again.

God is a Refresher;
He sends the cooling wind on a summer’s day,
brings rivers to the desert place,
and sends seasons of refreshing to the soul.

7 Good Things to Know about Hard Times

.1.  They turn our focus toward Jesus.

Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against Himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.” Hebrews 12:2-3 (ASV)

.2.  They turn our faith toward joy.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,” James 1:2 (NKJV)

.3.  They energize our faith toward positive growth.

Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:3 (NKJV)

.4.  They help release us from the cares that weigh us down and slow our progress.

Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,Hebrews 12:1 (ASV)

.5.  They help us encourage others in the Body of Christ.

Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.2 Timothy 4:18 (NLT)

.6.  They help us identify with others’ needs through intercessory prayer.

For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.” Philippians 1:19 (NLT)

.7.  They help us understand that something great and glorious is still ahead.

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.” Romans 8:18 (NLT)
