7 Good Things to Know about Hard Times
.1. They turn our focus toward Jesus.
“Looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against Himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.” Hebrews 12:2-3 (ASV)
.2. They turn our faith toward joy.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,” James 1:2 (NKJV)
.3. They energize our faith toward positive growth.
“Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:3 (NKJV)
.4. They help release us from the cares that weigh us down and slow our progress.
“Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” Hebrews 12:1 (ASV)
.5. They help us encourage others in the Body of Christ.
“Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen.” 2 Timothy 4:18 (NLT)
.6. They help us identify with others’ needs through intercessory prayer.
“For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.” Philippians 1:19 (NLT)
.7. They help us understand that something great and glorious is still ahead.
“Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.” Romans 8:18 (NLT)
