Safe Pastures

We all need sanctified imaginations. It’s easy for us to fret and let our imaginations run wild. In reality, most things don’t happen the way we imagined them. The Bible doesn’t tell us to live by our imaginations. Our imaginations can be a fast track to worry. Worry says, “What happens to me seems out of my control.” Faith says, “My life is in God’s hands, and He is in control.”

Jesus, our Good Shepherd, will lead our minds to still waters and quiet resting places.

If our imagination runs free, it will soon run wild. Without being under the control of the Holy Spirit, our imagination can easily mislead us. Unchecked imagination can quickly take us down the road of anxiety and expose us to a wide variety of fears. We need to yield control of our imagination to the Holy Spirit. He will keep our imagination feeding in the safe pastures depicted in Psalm 23. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, will lead our minds to still waters and quiet resting places.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want..”  Psalm 23:1
