free devotionsHe that watches over you will not slumber . . . . He will neither slumber nor sleep” Psalm 121:3,4

I was alone. It was night and I was in a hospital ward after a four-hour back surgery.  Even though I was on pain killers and heavily sedated from the anesthetic, I couldn’t sleep. I felt afraid.

Turning my head toward the small window in the room, I was surprised to see the full moon fill the window. It was big, beautiful, and bright, and so very comforting. I felt as if the Lord was saying to me, “Don’t be afraid, I am watching over you.” And He has been.

Today, two months after the surgery, the severe back pain I had for several years is gone.  The pain from the surgery has also disappeared. I have more energy than I have had for years. Housework is a joy, and walking for exercise is wonderful. I feel like a new woman.

The power of prayer is so evident. The body of Christ showed their love and care through visits, phone calls, e-mails, meals, and flowers. We were overwhelmed by the show of love.

Thank You Lord, for watching over me and freeing me from pain. I will keep serving You as long as I am able.

Jesus is…

My Shepherd who always leads me to a prepared place;
My Truth who has never misspoken;
My Way who never goes in the wrong direction;
My Life that never drains me;
My “Yes who encourages me on;
My Intercessor who never takes a day off;
My Treasure whose value will never depreciate;
My Bread that never spoils or becomes stale;
My Door who keeps opened the way to the Father’s presence;
My Rest who keeps me joined to His easy yoke;
My Carpenter who is building my life according to His master plan;
My Shower of Blessing without dry spells;
My Morning Star who brings hope to each new day.

Christ is all. “ where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.” Colossians 3:11
