For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”
Romans 8:29

God created you in His image and designed an intricate plan for your life—a  plan to redeem, restore, and refine your character to reflect the character of His Son, Jesus. As you journey through your day, I invite you to reflect on my poem, “Tapestry.”

My life’s a woven tapestry, I so often fail to see,
The perfect weaving of the loom at work inside of me.
Every day, I look unfinished, and find it hard to understand,
My tapestry’s great splendor seeking all my Lord has planned.

In times of pain and suffering, when trust and pain collide,
I long to see the finished work, but I can only view the underside:
A tangled web of knots and threads, caught up in such a mess,
I know His work’s unfinished, and in His tender hands, I rest.
His needlework is perfect, in every stitch His love is told,
The crafting of His handiwork in priceless threads of gold.
I must trust the master weaver, who knows my life’s great plan.
So I’ll let Him sow his perfect will, though I may not understand.

My life’s a treasured tapestry that I shall walk in faith to see,
As I feel the nails as needles sow his tender love through me.
And when His work is finished on the topside may I see,
The perfect image of my Savior, on my life’s great tapestry.

You are a living tapestry—a masterpiece in progress—created to authentically reflect God’s image and glory.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son to redeem me and for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help me to realize I am a work in progress and to keep my eyes on Jesus. May His refining fire sanctify my soul and transform my character and heart to reflect Jesus. Amen.

Before you begin your busy day, ask yourself today, how can I become more like Jesus? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to become more like Jesus—to see the world and those around you through His eyes.

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”.
Micah 6:8

Both are richly applied to many things, from fair weights and measures, to just legal proceedings, to good personal conduct, to honesty and truthfulness, to an individual’s right or just claim, to the employers’ economically just behaviors, to the judges’ fair decisions, to the governmental responsibilities of kings and rulers.

The clear meaning of “justice” is “what is right” or “what is normal” — the way things are supposed to be. The fairness of laws coupled with fair and equal treatment under the law are common biblical concerns. Throughout scripture, God is the defender and protector of the poor, the alien, the debtor, the widow, and the orphan. Justice can also mean “deliverance,” “victory,” “vindication,” or “prosperity” — but for all, not just a few. Justice is part of God’s purpose in redemption.

But justice is also about restoring our broken relationship with God to what He intends for us, which includes our role in God’s purposes for all of His creatures and for the world that He has made.

God is a God of justice, but also a God of mercy and grace. Justice is getting what we deserve. Mercy is not getting what we deserve and grace is getting what we don’t deserve. God is also a God of mercy and grace. By His grace, we are saved. We don’t deserve it, but when I accept Jesus as my Savior, our gracious God gives it to me anyway.

Praise Him for His grace!

Ponder how you can show justice, mercy and grace to all people and love them as God loves them. Think of a person or situation where you can help to turn an injustice into justice.

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner saved by grace. As a Christian help me to demonstrate justice, mercy and grace to those around me. Help me to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with my God.
