The widow lady was having problems with the water pressure to her house. Checking it out determined that it was probably the pressure valve and it would need to be replaced. However her strata council stated that any plumbing work had to be done by a licensed plumber. She called a plumber and when he arrived she phone me to let me know he was there. I thought that I would just talk to him on the phone and try to explain what I thought was the problem. But something prompted me to drive over and meet him.
By the time I got there he had already diagnosed the problem and had come to the same conclusion as I had. He gave her a quote to fix the problem. After my arrival and talking with him and discussing options we determined that there was a less expensive alternative that cut the cost in half. Had I not made the effort to go and talk with the plumber she would have paid a much higher amount.
Scripture tells us that… “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress...” James 1:27
Listening to that still voice prompted me to go and see if I could help the widow in distress.
It is important for us to listen for and then react to the prompting of the Lord.
My prayer for you this week:
“Heavenly Father, when you ask, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Please help us to respond with a resounding, “Here am I. Send me!” In Jesus name, amen.” Isaiah 6:8
