Daily Thoughts about God Posts

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14 (NKJV)

The Word became flesh,” John said.  In other words…he was touchable, approachable, reachable.  And, what’s more, he was ordinary.  If he were here today you probably wouldn’t notice him as he walked through a shopping mall.  He wouldn’t turn heads by the clothes he wore or the jewelry he flashed.

Just call me Jesus,” you can almost hear him say.

He was the kind of fellow you’d invite to watch the Rams-Giants game at your house.  He’d wrestle on the floor with your kids, doze on your couch, and cook steaks on your grill.  He’d laugh at your jokes and tell a few of his own.  And when you spoke, he’d listen to you as if he had all the time in eternity.

And one thing’s for sure, you’d invite him back.

Read: Luke 2:1-20

baby in a mangerMillie slumped in front of her computer.  She was looking for Christmas on the Internet.  She grumbled, “There are 49 million sites on Christmas.  How am I supposed to find out about the true meaning of this holiday?”

There were sites on Santa Claus, the Grinch, and lots of places selling cards, trees and other products.  There were tons of recipes and descriptions of ways Christmas is celebrated around the world.  Millie grew more confused.

She wondered, “Isn’t Christmas about the birth of Jesus Christ? After all, Christ is in the word Christmas.”

She opened a Bible and read about the birth of Jesus.  She said, “This is what I am looking for… the REAL meaning of Christmas!

Friend, Jesus Christ is the real reason for this season. Look for Him this season too.
