Love is Not Easily Provoked

“Love … does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil” 1 Corinthians 13:5

Every now and then, the Lord impresses a Bible verse or phrase on my mind and I can’t forget it. That is what He did last month. During a church service, the pastor spoke from 1 Corinthians 13.  I don’t recall anything else about the message, but the Lord burned the phrase, “love is not easily provoked,” into my mind. Since then, when I find myself getting impatient, angry, or irritated at someone or a situation, the Holy Spirit brings the verse to mind.
I agree with the Lord immediately, thank Him for His forgiveness and cleansing, and ask Him to be in control of my life again and change me.

Someone said, “I ‘fess’ them as I does them, I don’t bunch them.” Spiritual breathing is a good definition. Breathing out the old (confessing) and breathing in the new (Christ taking control of my life again). I have experienced tremendous freedom in my spiritual journey since I learned this spiritual concept.

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.”   (Philippians 2:13)

Thank You Lord Jesus, for sending Your Holy Spirit to comfort us, direct us, change us, and empower us. You are so awesome! Amen.
