(From Psalm 139)

No one knows you more thoroughly:
O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up: (vs. 1)

No one understands you more completely:
You understand my thought afar off. (vs.2)

No one cares about you more deeply:
You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. (vs. 3)

No one listens to you more attentively:
For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. (vs. 4)

No one blesses you more richly:
You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. (vs. 5-6)

No one is with you more closely:
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me. (vs 7-10)

No one thinks about you more intimately:
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me! (vs. 17-18)

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV)

Is there a trial you are facing, a difficulty you are walking through, a sorrow you are carrying, a burden you are bearing, or a heartache that is causing you pain?

You are not alone in these trying times or through these difficult circumstances. There is one alone who is a very present help in time of need. In Jesus you have a Warrior who has won the battle, a Champion who has defeated the foe, a Conqueror who will lead you in triumph.

He is your Light in the darkest night, your Companion in the deepest valley, your Guide through the densest forest, your Rock on the shakiest ground, your Shelter from the strongest storm, your Oasis in the driest desert, your Captain on the roughest seas.

He is Master, Savior, Healer, Deliverer, Shepherd, and Friend.  In His name is your strong and high tower. He is your security, your shelter, your shield.

Run to Jesus! Run to His name. Run to His love. Run to His care. Run to His strength. Run in faith. Run in confidence. Run with all your heart and be safe.

Things You Can Count On!

There will always be a grace that is sufficient;

a mercy that endures;

an atoning blood that cleanses;

a hope that doesn’t disappoint;

a love that never fails;

a purpose that works all things together for the good;

a peace that passes understanding;

a joy unspeakable;

a kingdom unshakable;

a foundation indestructible;

a High Priest who prays;

a Savior who lives;

a Spirit who comforts;

a Father who cares.

“Therefore, we who have fled to Him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us .This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.” Hebrews 6:18-19 (NLT)

He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
1 John 2:6
(NKJV)

If we had His walk how would we be living?

If we had His generosity how would we be giving?

If we had His ears how would we be listening?

If we had His heart how would be caring?

If we had His light how would we be seeing?

If we had His mind how would we be thinking?

If we had His words how would we be speaking?

If we had His wisdom how would we be planning?

If we had His grace how would we be serving?

If we had His mercy how would we be responding?

If we had His life how would we be changing?

Prayer from Psalm 46:10-11

BE—God, I say “yes” to You. I choose to allow Your way to shape me and Your will to direct me in what is best. I surrender instead of resist, I yield instead of fight, I believe instead of doubt.

STILL—Father, may Your rest abide and Your peace abound within me. Quiet all anxiety that troubles my thoughts and unsettles my emotions. I bring my soul under the control of the Holy Spirit; I stand steady upon the unmovable foundations of Your kingdom; I receive the sufficiency of Your grace and the encouragement of Your promises as you calm my soul.

AND KNOW— Lord, thank you that Your word is sure, unchanging, and indisputable. Your word is true. I am certain. You have saved me from guessing, wondering, wishing, or pretending. I know! I believe!

I AM GOD— You are who You say You are. You do what You say You do. There is no other! You are the highest, the greatest, the best. You have no weakness, no lack, and no equal. You are my God, and my Heavenly Father. I find comfort in Your nearness, security in Your voice, courage in Your strength, hope in Your promises. You are enough. More than enough! You are with me. You are my refuge. I am safe in Your care.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.”

Thoughts by All Thoughts by Men thoughts by Roy Lessin

I don’t recall who said it, but years ago I heard this statement:

God carries in His heart the fulfillment to all the desires He has placed within yours.”

The Bible puts that thought in this way:

Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass…rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.” Psalm 37:3-7

Here are some things we can learn from this passage about the desires of our hearts:

  1. The desires we carry in our hearts must come from God—His desires will be those of the Spirit and not of the flesh.
  2. He is the only one who can fulfill the desires He has placed within us—the fulfillment of these desires will glorify Him. He doesn’t say to us, “I have placed My desires within you, now it’s up to you, go out and make them happen.”
  3. He places His desires in us as a result of us delighting in Him—we will desire what He desires, delight in what He delights in, and rejoice over the things He rejoices over.
  4. He wants us to trust in His faithfulness to fulfill those desires.
  5. Don’t give up on any desire that God has placed within you.

What should you do as you wait upon Him to fulfill those desires? Do not attempt to strive, manipulate, or struggle in yourself to fulfill them. God has promised you that He will give you the desires of your heart; God has said that He will bring it to pass.

As you wait, rest and wait patiently for Him. There is no benefit in pressing or pushing, but rather be at peace, knowing that God’s timing is always perfect and His ways always bring the best.

He will cover you with His feathers; you will take refuge under His wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield.” Psalm 91:4 (HCSB)

May you receive a full reward from the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Ruth 2:12 (HCSB)

Being under His wings means being close to His heart—you are not only sheltered, you are loved; you are not only secure, you are cared for; you are not only covered, you are reassured.

“And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (AMP)

We need no reservations about casting ourselves completely upon the resources of God. He is not like a bank with an empty vault, not like a fruit tree whose branches have withered, and not like a well that has gone dry.

If His resources were weak, we would be without strength; if His resources were depleted, we would be without hope; if His resources were limited, we would be without help.

If He had nothing, we would be empty…

If His care were insufficient, we would be in want…

If He did not possess all He has declared to be ours by His grace we could never become all He has promised we could be in Christ.

By faith we need to gladly, freely, fully, and gratefully cast ourselves upon His resources without reservation—He is the all-sufficient One Who never changes, Who never faints or grows weary, Who never slumbers or sleeps, and Who is the keeper of His people from this time forth and forever more.

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV)

Today, as God’s people, we need to be believers who know what we believe, stand upon what we believe, and act upon what we believe. We are called to know the truth and believe the truth. The truth is the eternal rock upon which our lives are built. It is the anchor point of our faith that keeps us from drifting or being pulled away by the strong currents of doubt and unbelief.

Believing comes from the very depths of who we are. Believing is not rooted in what we know in our heads or how we feel in our emotions, but in what we have embraced with our hearts.

In 2 Corinthians 4:13 we read, “I have believed, and therefore have I spoken.” That should be true of each of us. It is important for us to know what we believe in our hearts and to confess what we believe with our voices.

Too often we hear others speaking what they doubt rather than what they believe. As believers, we stand upon the truth of God and declare it to be so in our lives—we whisper it in the secret places of our hearts, and with our voices we shout it out upon the rooftops with confidence, clarity, and conviction.

Doubt questions; belief affirms.
Doubt says, “I’m not sure”; belief says, “I know and am persuaded”.
Doubt struggles with misgivings; belief is blessed with assurance.
Doubt hesitates and holds back; belief confidently moves ahead.
Doubt is suspicious; belief fully trusts.
Doubt pulls us away from the heart of God; belief draws us near.
Doubt struggles; belief overcomes.
Doubt holds back; belief surrenders.
Doubt lives in the shadows; belief steps into the light.
Doubt makes us shaky; belief puts us on solid ground.
Doubt leaves us as spiritual paupers; belief brings us into our spiritual riches in Christ.

Where are you? Devotional

With God, there is no “wherever you would like to go is fine.”

God wanted Jonah in Nineveh, not in Tarshish; God wanted Abram in Canaan, not Haran; God wanted Saul in Europe, not Asia. At God’s right time, we need to be in God’s right place. Where you live and when you live there are important. You cannot reach the people God has prepared for you to reach if you are not in the place He wants you to be.

It is also important where you are in your attitudes and in your character. When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord. When God walked in the garden He called out, “Where are you?” The question was not limited to their location, but also to their relationship with God. We can ask ourselves, “Where am I in my thankfulness? Where am I in my praise? Where am I am my obedience? Where am I in my trust in the Lord?”

Today, may you be exactly where God wants you to be, doing what God has called you to do, at the time God wants you to do it, in a way that is pleasing to Him.

devotional

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.Revelation 22:13 (NKJV)

Jesus is the Alpha, the First; Jesus is the Omega, the Last; Jesus is the Beginning and the End. In our walk of faith, we take our first step and last step in Jesus, and He is every step along the way.

Jesus is not only the End of our destination in life, but He is also the End of our motivation in life—He is the purpose and the reason for our journey. He is the End itself! In our walk of faith we do use Jesus as a means to what we desire, because our heart’s deepest desire is met in Him.

In Him we have arrived at God’s desired place for us in this world. Jesus is the fulfillment we seek, the completion we need, the love we long for in our hearts. He is the wisdom that establishes us, the righteousness that justifies us, the sanctification that purifies us, and the redemption that makes us His own.

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.” 1 Corinthians 1:30-31 (NKJV)

For to me, to live is Christ…Philippians 1:21 (NKJV)

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”  Ephesians 3:17-19 (NKJV)

All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:16-18 (NKJV)

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him.” Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV)

devotional

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16

When you come to God in prayer, you don’t come to a stranger who needs an introduction, or to an enemy who is against you. You come to your Father, whose heart reaches out to you in goodness and kindness, who knows every detail about your life, and who wants you to come and welcomes your company.

He wants you to come as a child who is loved…who is accepted…who is cared for…and who is secure. He wants you to come in openness…in confidence…in truthfulness.
