Dat Baby Jesus – He Make Me Laugh
“I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure”. Psalm 16:8-9
Brennan Manning, in his book, The Relentless Tenderness of Jesus, tells of an experience he had at an airport. It was just before Christmas and he was in the Chicago airport waiting to get a flight to Texas for a week-end retreat. But because of a severe storm, he and thousands of others were not going anywhere. The flights were all delayed. Public address systems were blaring, people were at the ticket counter demanding a projected departure time, children were crying, some people were just sitting and staring.
Then he noticed a middle-aged black woman cradling a child in her arms and laughing. Manning asked her,
“Would you mind telling me why you’re so happy?”
“Sho,” she said. “Christmas is coming and dat baby Jesus---He make me laugh”.
According to Psalm 16:8-9, focusing on Jesus at all times is the key to a happy and joyful heart.
How about you?
During the Christmas season, our already busy life becomes busier.
Are you ‘setting the Lord before you’ today?
Do you want to have a merry Christmas?
Bring Jesus into all your activities.
Talk to Him all day long.
He will make you laugh!
Father, you fill us with joy in your presence. Give us the grace to remember to enjoy your presence. We want to laugh, Lord. Amen.

So wonderful to know that God's prescence everyday, knowing that I can talk with Jesus and God every day helps me so much. Also laughing helps so much. When you think of a little baby they make you so happy. Holding a baby makes me feel haooy and laugh. Was thinking wouldn"t it have been wonderful to have been around the time when Jesus was born and to have been able to see him. Even though we were not there when Christmas time comes and I sing Away in a Manger I think of Jesus as a Baby.

A verse that just recently came to my notice is Psalm 5:11 - "But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee." If we put our trust in Him and love His name, we can't help but rejoice!

Yes. I keep the Lord always before me, but His sight is often obstructed by many thoughts of things and people crowding around me. I could only get His sight on and off.
Now in this Christmas season I am trying to make room for Jesus in my heart so that his presence may be felt in my mind's inn.
Thanks for this inspiring devotional. Merry Christmas.
