One Link in a Chain
by Katherine Kehler Share page

“For you must teach others those things you and many others have heard me speak about. Teach trustworthy men (people), who will, in turn, pass them on to others”  (2 Timothy 2:2).

One of my neighbors invited me to a craft sale. I decided to go so that I could meet more of my neighbors. I was so glad I went, as I met Janet, who used to live in my neighborhood. She had been the first women on the block to join a Bible study I had taught years before.

As we were leaving the craft sale, she thanked me for discipling her when she was a new mom. We chatted about some of our former neighbors and I asked her about Carol, who had come to an evangelistic coffee time in my home. She had not prayed to receive Christ that day, but Janet had continued meeting with her, and several months later Carol did ask Jesus into her life.

I was so encouraged to hear this, not only because it was another example of God’s faithfulness, but also because I saw my my part in a chain of events. I had discipled Janet who in turn led Carol to Christ and discipled her after meeting at the evangelistic coffee in my home. Carol eventually moved to another city where she worked helping abused women.

I was one link in the chain that helped Carol on her spiritual journey. Now Janet and Carol are helping many others. 1 Timothy 2:2

Have you thought about how God used you as a link in a chain of someone’s spiritual journey? Have you thanked him/her ?

Father, help us to be obedient to You when You prompt us to pray, to witness, and to encourage, because all of these things are one link in a chain of events that brings others closer to Your love. Amen.
